It is said that the Emperor Trajan once addressed a Jewish rabbi by the name of Joshua and said, “Show me your God.” The wise sage answered, “Come out of the house, and see one of His ambassadors.” Leading him into the daylight, the rabbi asked the emperor to look upon the sun that was shining in his strength.”

The Bible says in Psalm 19:1-3 (New Life Version) about the works and the Word Of God "The heavens are telling of the greatness of God and the great open spaces above show the work of His hands. Day to day they speak. And night to night they show much learning. There is no speaking and no words where their voice is not heard. God has clearly revealed Himself to humanity through creation and speaks everyday through His works."

When your side of the spinning planet Earth has turned to face the sun, you can see the beauty that God has created and the brightness of day: and later in the day, when your side of Earth is turning away from the sun, you can see the last rays of the sun`s glow lighting the darkening sky as the daylight fades into the duskiness of twilight. When your side of Earth has turned away from the warmth of the sun, you can look up and see a multitude of stars above, but you cannot see the very distant stars that shine in the vast, boundless space of the universe. You can see the many beautiful colors that God has given to every tree, to every exquisite, fragrant flower, to every fruit and vegetable, and to every living thing of every different kind. You can smell the heavenly scents of the lilac and the rose; but you cannot see the plans and the miracles that God has put within each living thing.

Phillip Yancey comments, “People grow up with all sorts of notions of what God is like…but because of Jesus, however, we no longer have to wonder how God feels or what He is like. When in doubt, we can look at Jesus to correct our blurry vision.” Jesus is a portrait of God—an exact likeness—God Himself. This Christian life is a great mystery, far exceeding our understanding, but some things are clear enough: God appeared in a human body, was proved right by the invisible Holy Spirit, was seen of angels, He was proclaimed among all kinds of peoples, believed in all over the world, taken up into heavenly glory (1 Timothy 3:16 Message Bible). How great is God? Look at the world. What kind of being is God? Look at Jesus. The characteristics of God Almighty are mirrored for us in Jesus Christ—if we want to know what God is like, we must study Jesus Christ (Oswald Chambers).
